I've been writing HP fanfic for some time; now I decided to try my hand at other fandoms.

This story came about as a result of thoughts I had while researching the environmental and economic effects of building the massive hydroelectric dam on the Mekong River. I was required to write an essay on it for my sociology class in university; but when I had done that, I found that I was inspired to write this, as well. It is the musing of a young girl who makes a living from the river, and her thoughts on the dam.

This story is set in a near-future Japan, where the breeding of genetically-modified animals for a variety of uses has become big business. The story looks at the friendship which develops between one such creature, a chimeric part-human named Miyatsu, and the human Fujimoto Aiko.

Aiko met and interacted with Miyatsu while he was growing within an artificial gestation unit. Circumstances part them, until they meet up many years later, both as adults, and the story follows their developing relationship and growing affection for each other. Addendum: Um, there have now been nearly 2000 hits on this story; but still only a single review! Did only the single person like this story?
