Finished it! I'm glad to see that he finally came round. The tension between him and Helen was starting to kill me. I loved the chapter when he still tried to delude himself and found all the arguments against feeling anything for her, not realising that it was much too late for that. It's so much more satisfying to read a well-written story like yours where the characters slowly learn to know each other and care for each other instead of rushing into a relationship, leaving the reader wonder how it happened in the first place. Thank you for some very enjoyable hours.

Author's Response: Thank you and you are most welcome, we glad you enjoyed it so much! And I totally agree...the tension was starting to kill us too and we were writing it! :D Yes, Holmes learned that de Nile is not just a river in Egypt...and it was rather pointless in the end. Again, thank you so much for such a kind and thoughtful review. ~Aeryn

Wow. Your stories are getting better and better. I liked the mystery plot a lot, but I'm even more fascinated by your charactising Holmes and Helen. They become truly alive. Poor Helen. After this rather passionate episode, I assume that now everyone will return to proper Victorian restraint? How heart-wrenching, but of course it also makes me want to read on immediately to see whether there is any hope for her.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, veradee! We are thrilled you are continuing to enjoy the story and the mystery plot. Yes, Helen's gotten herself into a right pickle, hasn't she. :D ~Aeryn

I am just delighted with this story and the way you brought Holmes to finally acknowledge his feelings. And that you made him suffer a little for it. Thank you so much for the work you put into this.

Author's Response: You are very welcome. And thank you for the sweet review! We're both so glad you are enjoying it. :D Stay tuned...the next story has started being posted here on Chaos. ~Aeryn

I have been enjoying this story so much, and you did so well at keeping Sherlock in character when proposing they begin a relationship. I bet that was fun to write. Your characterisations all round are so well done, and consistent. I suppose it would be too much to hope for some of your SS type smut to creep in. I really enjoyed Seeds to Sand, BTW. Lovely!!

Author's Response: Oh thank you so much! We are both glad you enjoyed both fics! :D Yes, it was a hoot to write that scene originally, but would you believe we did that six months ago?! We had to go back and fix quite a bit of it...originally they were both much harsher to poor William. And never fear...we just uploaded the first chapter of the next story yesterday. It's in two posts though...cuz we're verbose. *snicker* As for smut...alas...not it is not in the foreseeable furture for Holmes. I'm not saying never...but it will be a while. Such a thing requires intimacy from both of them, that they are sooooo not ready for. :D *squees a bit more* Thanks again! ~Aeryn (who really enjoyed writing Seeds to Sand)

I am enjoying this series greatly. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to the next tale. Kimi

Their dance was so beautiful - Poor Helen, what a choice. I wish ;) Interesting to see what Watson decides to do after talking to Mary. You write their relationship so beautifully.

Author's Response: Again, thank you! That means a lot! We love writing Watson and Mary...their relationship really gets shafted often in fanfic...and we wanted them to get their due. All shall be reveal (mostly) on Friday! Then the last chapter the following week. *grins* Again thank you so much for your kind words. ~Aeryn

I have spent the last few days catching up with your latest chapters. You still do an incredible job at keeping Holmes and Watson in character (sometimes too well in character - arrrggh - kiss her again, kiss her again ;) ) and Helen is such a deeply written and lovely OC. An amazing plot too - what an adventure - tragic story regarding the abductions that were too common at the time. You paint Victorian England brilliantly. Great job!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Paulined! We are so glad you are enjoying the story and the new characters...and that we are keeping Holmes and Watson IC! *squees*

All shall be revealed soon enough...and the credit to the abduction story line goes to my co-writer Lian...who came to me with this idea that I was scared may be too much. But...after many pow wows, we decided that it was a go! Again, glad you like! *dances* ~Aeryn

I can't stand this. I anxiously await additions to this story and if the additions were 20 chapters long I'd still have to whine and complain that it's never enough. Thanks for adding romance to Holmes' life and for still giving such a true account of the great detective and of the times in which he lived. I'm also a Jeremy Brett fan and can see his genius shine through in your writings. Not to mention that I've always found his Holmes to be drop dead sexy and have been too afraid to sound like a fangirl to admit until now so....squeeee. LOL Thank you both so much!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the review! And will you not be offended if I squee that you are waiting so breathlessly? :D Alas there are only two chapters left...*sniff* And thank you for the kudos for the keeping of the period and character! We try really hard to keep him as canon as we can (and still Brettish)...and we love adding the history tidbits too. *thanks co-author aka Research Gal!* Squee back and don't be afraid to fangirl...we're shameless that way too. ~Aeryn

I'm really enjoying this story. It amazes me just how romantic all this it is---and all because of a kiss. It almost makes me wonder if we somehow have it all wrong in our modern culture! Great job, and I'm really looking forward to future chapters.

Author's Response: Thank you so very much!!! I agree, a kiss can be the most romantic thing in the world...especially the first one (not saying there will be others though! *looks around to make sure co-author isn't watching*) There's just three chapters to go! And again thank you so much for the review and yes, please stay tuned. ~Aeryn

Just wanted to tell y'all that your rendition of of the canon is one of the closest to Doyle's style that I've ever seen. It's different, but not so much so that it becomes destracting. Have you ever had anything published? If not you should realy try for it. Just finished reading your latest update and now you've got me on tenterhooks. Excellent job! It takes alot to keep my interst going, and you've suceeded wonderfully

Author's Response: *blushes deeply* Thank you so much! You are very very kind. We are both so glad you are enjoying the story. No, we've never had anything published...frankly, I think I'd faint and curl up into a drooling ball should I write professionally. *grins* But thank you for thinking so. This series is lots of fun to write...and the research has been fascinating (my collection of Victorian era stuff is growing). So I think we'll be writing Holmes for a while yet. Now I'm rambling...but thank you so much! I think you just made my night. ~Aeryn

Author's Response: Would also like to add my thanks. Research has been time consuming and hard work, but very rewarding when it pays off by entertaining people, so thank you for letting us know! ~ LFire

1901? Yes, the date was right in front of me. I need to stop devouring the chapters and read more carefully. Holmes whould shake his head in dismay at such an obvious oversight.

Author's Response: *Laughs* Oh yes...1901. So, a few years in the future (as we are in 1889). Not to fear...I won't tell Holmes if you won't! :D ~Aeryn

I am enjoying this story so very much. Wonderful plot and the style is fascinating. I like how parts of the story have Helen describing her behavior and feelings from a current perspective. I'm very curious to see where and when the current perspective is. Did she realize Holmes was unattainable and is she telling this tale as she looks around the home she shares with William? Or perhaps Holmes is outside tending to the hives while Helen reminisces how it all came about? And have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying your portrayal of Watson. He's so often made into a buffoon that it's wonderful to see him written as an intelligent and thoughtful friend.

Author's Response: Thank you! We are both thrilled you are enjoying it so much! Well, as you see from the first part of Harlot, she is writing this in 1901...what she is doing and whom she is with...well, can't tell you. But I think you'll definately know for sure by the end of this story. We agree whole heartedly on Watson. The man was a doctor, intelligent, worldly, and though kind and often amazed at Holmes's methods...no idiot. It's a pet irk with me that he is portrayed so in many adaptions. Again, thank you...and stay tuned...updates are usually around Friday. ~Aeryn

How wonderful to check on this story and find several new chapters. To quote Holmes, "The plot thickens." I'm curious to see what Holmes' (assuming the scarred face man is Holmes) reaction will be and if he will realize what drove Helen to attempt such a foolhardy and perilous endeavor.

Author's Response: *grins* Actually these last two posts are one chapter...we went over the word count limit here! Man, we're wordy...and the next few chapters will be too. *snickers* Thank you so much for the kind words! Well, we can assume what his reaction will be to find her there...as for realising her motivations...afraid I can't tell ya...but what would you consider her motivations to be? *grins* And yes...I voice her and kept having to step back and message my co-writer that I think she's being an idiot! Anyhoo...stay tuned! We should have Part Two up Friday (if validated - hugs to those hard working admins!). ~Aeryn

I've just discovered this wonderful series and spent a highly entertaining afternoon catching up on these new adventures of Holmes and Watson. Sherlock Holmes is one of my favorite characters and you've captured the tone and spirit of the originals stories with the added appeal of a dash of romance. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what happens next with Holmes, Helen and the dashing Captain.

Author's Response: Yea, another Holmes lover! *smiles* Thank you so much for your review! It really does mean alot that you have enjoyed our series so much, and we hope you continue to find our tale enjoyable. ~Aeryn
