Obviously introductions will be in order...I think it's cute how Angelique blushes every time she's in the company of Obadiah. Of course, he's doing some serious blushing too! It is terrible how the flu takes everyone so quickly back then. Thank goodness we have a vaccine to at leats lessen the blow of getting it. You mentioned about that heart problem when you were a child, I am glad that you outlived the 3 years they gave you to live, and that you're here writing wonderful stories and running that fine AR group! And I'm only 3 years younger than you, Becky! I'll turn 50 this coming December...Yeah, I'll be waiting for all those 'Over the Hill' jokes. The way I see it, age is only a number. Another fine chapter as always! This one had me shaking my head, because of the two principal charecters, Angelique and Obadiah. If there were ever two people who acted like two lovesick teenagers, it's these two! I suppose that the time period reflects the behavior of the young people, everyone is so polite and mannerly, no one's taking anyone behind the barn for alittle 'Somethin' somethin', if you know what I mean;0) Having said all that I have to say that these two are so cute it is rediculous! I just adore how Obi thinks about, dreams about, whatever, about Angelique, and she is doing the same! Even drawing a sketch of him. I have to giggle at Angelique hiding the portrait from her mom as well as the parchment with her name, and his. I suppose back then, making a big fuss over a cute pastor was taboo. Anyway, I hope they can get together and try to act like, um, normal adults...Um, how old is Angelique and how old is Obadiah? I don't think I read that in the begiining of the story. Not that their ages bother me, it's just the fact that Obi's acting like a lovesick puppy! Quite unsual for a man...But he is one cute man! *grins mischieviously* ;0)

Yes it is unusual for a man to act Lovesick, BUT Obi has NEVER BEEN in love before, and sooooooooooooo!!!!

I'm glad that Obadiah's mom got to hear his sermon. And she seems to be very proud of him, as every mother is with her children. And she likes her new home, which is nice. And it is bright and cheerful and her room overlooks the park. It sounds like she is contented and that she has visits from Obi to look forward to. At the beginning, Kennth made a plea for rain from Our LOrd, but, He has'nt delivered yet...And Obadiah is still pining for Angelique. Would'nt it be something if his blind date is Angelique Rhys?? Oh the possibilities!!! And you mentioned in one of your posts, about your story being boring as to make me sleepy? No way!! I think it was the long day, and also the fact that reading a GOOD story, relaxes me. I always read a book in bed, and 9 times out of 10, I'll be asleep before even finishing the first paragraph! Or I'll watch tv, which puts me to sleep too. I have a timer on the tv... I really enjoy your story Becky and I'll hang with you and Obadiah until the end!! ;0)

That is really aweet, that Obadiah got to see his mother and that she remembered him after he told her who he was. I'm curious as to how he'll carry that box home, that his mom gave him. I'm glad that he went to see his mom, because, as you know, things can change. And I hope he is able to give that ring to Angelique...Boy, I'm really rooting for those two to get together! lol Great story as always! keep up the good work, Becky! ;0)

Oh my! What a trip that chapter was!! Personally, I think Mrs Oleson deserves a good slap if you ask me. Poor Obadiah! And yet he was naive to the fact that the woman would pull such a stunt. Now, he'll have to go back and get his coat and hat. Unless she brings them back to him. And if he acts angrily towards her, sahe'll get him where it hurts, I'm sure. Thank goodness for Betsy! At least she warned Obadiah. And she did'nt help her misstress up from the floor. I woulds have been rotflmao at that one! Again another fine chapter! The shoe shining thing is interesting. I assume the ladies' shoes are also shined. This in line with what folks do today for a grieving family. Usually, they provide food and stuff like that, so the family does'nt have to worry about eating...Sometimes people who are in moarning won't eat. You have to make them est for the strength. I remember when my mom passedaway in 1995, our neighbors boaght lots of food to our house. Even a fully cooked turkey! Or was it a chicken? It was very generous and they did the same when my dad passed too. Of course some brought yummy desserts too! Back to the story. I'm glad the Bishop told Obadiah about Mrs. Oleson, but it seems Obadiah's turning a deaf ear to what Kenneth is saying. But, Obadiah did say he would watch carefully for any signs of 'monkey business'. The service for Little Michael went well, and Obadiah did well in his first funeral. Of course, afterwards, Mrs. Oleson was having the hots for Obadiah again. Like she deserves what he has to offer? Hmmmph! Okay, I'm off to bed now, great chapter as always!

Another outstanding chapter! Most of it, was the two men visiting people in the parish. Obadiah was touched by young MIchael's condition. He seemed upset. It is always hard when a child is near death. To lose a child at any age, but especially at the beginng of their lives is especially hard. And the parents seem to blame themselves for not doing more, even though they do more than what's called for to help their child. It sounds like Kenneth wants to move to Acton....He and Obadiah are great feiends, and of course, I'm wondering when Obadiah's going ask about Angelique. I suppose we'll have to be patient...

Another wonderful chspter! And you mention two of my favorite scents! I love the scent of honeysuckle and lilacs, as well as hyacinths. My brother has a tree called a varberatum, I hope that is the correct spelling. That tree has a beautiful scent that you can smell before you even see the tree itself! Okay, I have to metion that when Obadiah and Keeneth were looking at that shield, the way you described it. made me think of the Slytherin shield, and of Severus Snape! Very curious! I really thought he and Bishop UNter would have discussed Obadiah's lusting for Angelique...I suppose they will talk it over at breakfast. You're doing a wonderful job with this story and I'm looking forward to reading more!

Well, I am glad that Obadiah enjoyed his chocolate cake, and with milk of course! A man after my own heart! Now for the story, another wonderful chapter. He's getting into the swing of things, his first funeral,(sadly) and trying to make time to see Mrs Oleson, which he seems reluctant to do. He should it and get it over with. As for his thoughts on Angelique, I ad to giigle at the word 'masher', is that like a cad? or some quirky slang term for one who plays the field. Still, he is feeling quite perturbed over the situation. Patience is a virtue, Obadiah...Give her time, dear boy! ;0)

Well, it looks like the good Reverand has a soft spot for Angelique and he misses her. How sweet! Obadiah seems like such a sweet man. I hope someday to find a copy of The Barchester Chronicles, so I can 'meet' Obadiah Slope. Not knowing much about the charecter, and reading this story, is undaunting, since,I'm reading about him for the first time. And I don't usually like to correct an author on their spelling, but you mentioned the Chinese Coy in the pond, The word is spelled K-O-I, Koi. As you know, they are a type of fish, mainly an overgrown spotted goldfish, IMHO, lol. My brother has a pond at his home, and he has koi in the pond that have grown into like huge fish! They keep having babies! He told me today, when I visited him for his birthday, (It's actually tomorrow, but I wanted to give him his card in person, since this is the first time, that I would see him on his B-Day, I live in Pa, as does he. We live 10 miles from each other,he has 20 acres of ground and has gardens galore!) Anyway, I hope you did'nt mind the correction, Becky. Great story, I love it! P.S.
